Taking top honours in the fine wool Poll Merino section was the Seymour Park stud, Highbury.

Mr Ross McGauchie, Terrick West Poll Merino stud, Prairie, Victoria, said the ewe carried a bright, white wool on structurally sound frame.

Standing in reserve to the Claypans sire and receiving the reserve champion fine/medium wool Poll Merino ram ribbon was a sire from the Seymour Park stud, which Mr Scott  Button, Manunda Poll Merino stud, Tammin, said had a well-nourished rich wool.

The two-tooth ram was sired by Kamora Park 304.

The reserve champion medium wool ewe ribbon was awarded to a two-tooth ewe from the Seymour Park stud.

Mr Justin Boughen, Kamora Netley Park Poll Merino stud, Karoonda, South Australia, said the Seymour Park ewe was a long-bodied ewe with a very good skin and a good rich wool.

The ewe was by Seymour Park 111.

The champion strong wool Poll Merino ewe was exhibited by the Seymour Park stud.

Mr Button said the Seymour Park ewe was well put together with a good productive skin.

Prior to being sashed the champion, the four-tooth ewe, which was by Seymour Park 111, won its class for four tooth and over strong wool Poll Merino ewes ahead of three other ewes.

Rounding out the stud champion ribbons was a medium wool fleece exhibited by the Blight family, Seymour Park stud, Highbury.

This fleece was off a stud show ewe that was sashed the champion fine-medium wool Poll Merino ewe at last year’s Rabobank WA Sheep Show.

At the time of that show the ewe’s wool tested at 19.9 micron, 2.7 SD, 13.6 CV and 99.8pc CF.

The ewe was sired by Seymour Park 908 and it’s fleece was awarded 91 points in total, with 18 out of 20 for character, 13 out of 14 for handle, nine out of 10 for colour of bloom, 13 out of 14 for length, 16 out of 16 for soundness, seven out of 10 for evenness and 15 out of 16 for density.
